‘American Factory’, which is released by America’s 44th president's production company Higher Ground in partnership with Netflix, earned the first-ever nod in the best documentary feature category.
The documentary first debuted during the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.
‘American Factory’ is about a culture clash at a Dayton, Ohio manufacturing plant. It gives a look into the struggling auto-industry through the eyes of employees at a car factory, highlighting their struggles when a foreign company enters the market and re-opens a General Motors factory.
The film will compete in its category against ‘The Cave’, ‘The Edge of Democracy’, ‘For Sama’ and ‘Honeyland’.
The 92nd Academy Awards will air live February 9 on ABC.
